4UCAM 7" LCD Wireless Truck RV Backup Rear view Camera With Color LCD Monitor + Night VisionReviewsI got what I paid for. The cameras (I bought a second camera 9901T) filled with water in spite of the "waterproof" claim. The approximately 16ft distance between camera and screen makes reception random. Lots of noise. From the description at purchase I understood the screen is supposed to power up on reception of signal but it doesn't - you need to keep it energized all the time and power on-off with the front button - otherwise there is a blue screen and the unit gets hot. The cheap paper stickers on the cameras would be gone quickly exposed to the weather; once they are gone the seller 4UCam would not take your return. Read the fine print: the return of the defective merchandise would cost you $15. The windshield mount, which looked like the only good component of the set, has delaminated after several months. In perspective, I should have sealed thoroughly the cameras out of the box with a clear silicone. I purchased this item to use primarily as a rear view mirror for my trailer.I mounted the camera on the back of my trailer on the upper drip edge, so it couldn't be accessed by people from the ground, and put the sending unit on the front of the trailer above the hitch.I use the trailer power supply because the camera is on all the time when I am towing,so wireing it to the reverse switch would not work. The picture is excellent both night and day and it functions as advertised and the technical support was excellent via phone and email. My only suggestion was that the documentation should contain more explicate direction which the manufacturer said they were improving. The screen was bright while it lasted. Unfortunately, the image stopped working properly after one year - a total of two weeks of actual usage. After working for a few seconds, it turns to a hazy white display. The warranty on this item is very short, so be prepared to gamble. I lost and wished I'd bought something else with a decent warranty. Also, the wireless license plate camera that accompanied the LCD screen didn't send a sufficiently strong signal to handle a 26-foot RV. The picture would break-up and flip. I wired the camera to my license plate light; plus put a 12v remote switch in the line. I use the camera as a rear view mirror, back-up camera and can turn it off when not wanted. This is a great product. The large screen is easy to see, reception excellent (no flickering). Please note this review is for the product, not the seller. I had an issue with this setup. Perhaps it was defective but it just did not work for me. I ended up going with the wired option instead but that is another review. This product just did not work as I expected. The reception was really poor. Granted I installed it on a very large Ford F350 Crew Cab with the full bed. But still, the box cover shows a gigantic dump truck using it and ... ha ha...that just can't be true. There were two concerns I had: 1) Reception Reception was really poor. No matter what I tried, I did not get a good signal. It was a battle for me to get it stable at all, actually. The camera was mounted above the hitch and the transmitter was extended as far as it was designed (just ahead of the rear tire) but even then, the signal was just a total loss... I ended up UN-wiring the whole thing and trying a simple test: I placed the transmitter on the ground, connected all the power and placed the LCD next to the transmitter. I got a decent picture, although it did have a steady flicker but none-the-less it was acceptable. Then I picked up the LCD and started to walk. About 2' in to my walk, the monitor just started to go haywire. This was in line-of-sight! When you put steel between the transmitter and monitor, it just does not work. Perhaps the unit was bad? The recommendation from the seller was to purchase a 20' extender and place the transmitter next to the LCD. Hmmm...If I am going to do that, I might as well get the wired version. 2) Power logic is ... illogical. The power feed on this unit was rather backwards. The camera feeds to The transmitter and the transmitter feeds to 12v DC. Each run is about 10' but think about this: Most users want to wire the 12v DC to the rear backup light circuit...which is in the BACK of the car. So, in order to conveniently wire this unit, you have to shorten the length between the camera and transmitter in order for the 12v DC wire to come BACK to the trunk area. This is not right! The correct pattern to wire a WIRELESS unit would be: Camera to 12v DC then 12v DC to transmitter. This allows you to make your power connection first then run the transmitter as far down as possible to get it as close to the LCD for reception. This is a huge disadvantage for any length of auto due to the illogical pattern of wiring. It made it much worse for me since the span from tailgate to LCD was easily 15'. Looping back for power made the run 50% less than it should have been! Tell me how this was supposed to work for the dumptruck pictured on the box? I would have given this product a one star but the seller *really* tried to work with me! He was eager to assist with my basic situation. He instigated several conversations to keep the ball rolling and once he realized that I had a special circumstance, offered the wired version as an alternative (which worked GREAT for me, BTW) In the end, this particular wireless unit should be redesigned to accommodate the logical power feed and video run. It should also switch to a different frequency band as 2.8Ghz is fairly busy these days. It is likely meant for folks who own a Fiesta/Prius/Storm/Miata owners. If you have a big truck, don't be lazy: Get the wired version for sure. I have a video of the 2' demonstration if any one wants to see it. It explains everything. Average Rating:![]() |

Have a long truck, RV or trailer, and wondering whether the wireless backup set would work in your case, this wireless backup camera is your answer. Not like the license plate camera which has the transmitter built-inside the camera, this wireless camera set comes with a transmitter which detached from the camera... |

Kenwood CCD-2000 Rear-View CameraReviewsBecareful , this product is not waterproof , installed on tacoma double cab license plate, working only 2 days, good image quality night and day. Mounted on top of the hitch inside the bumper on a 2007 Expedition. Outstanding field of view, low light capability is excellent and no problems with weather at all to this point. Wired directly into a kenwood dx514 dvd head unit. Can see anything behind the truck, even things just off the bumper on the left and right. Outstanding viewing. Can line up to a trailer, avoid objects and the picture is excellent. Highly recommended (assuming you understand wiring it up). After installing a couple of less expensive back-up camera options, I decided to replace my head unit and installed Kenwoods CCD-2000 back-up camera. It's smaller, and has better image quality than the other units I tried. Very satisfied! Note: The Kenwood CCD-2000 works fine with other head units having a backup camera (video) input, you do not need to use it only with a Kenwood unit. I use this cam with my Kenwood P-NAV514 Video/Navigation Pack with KVT-514 and KNA-G510 system. Only time it has not looked right was when it got rained on. No way to avoid that really. I just tilted the cam down a little bit and wiped the lens off. Worked great from then on. It costs more than other backup cameras, but the detail and quality are there even at night. Makes it look like the day out the back even when it is dark outside. Use it on my 03 Dodge Ram quad cab Cummins. Cable was just the right length to get into the cab near the driver's side kick panel. I'd buy it again. Just might add it to my wife's Chrysler 300. Real happy with the purchase.. great picture even with no light at the back of the car.. clear and wide angled.. highly recommend. Average Rating:![]() |

Pioneer Nd-Bc2 Universal Rear View CameraReviewsThis is a very good selection if you already checked to have a special place to install it in your car, do not reccomend it to have it completely exposed to rain and dust, it great to the licence plate space that some suv's have. It works grat in dayligth and good with the reverse ligth at nigth. Once I installed the PIONEER AVGVDP1 Vehicle Dynamics Processor, I had a video screen. That's all that's necessary to use this unit, and provisions are there to plug it into it's own box and from there to the video screen box. So when I installed the VDP-1 I left room on the component mounting board to install the control box for this device. As it turned out the control box is the size of a box of Tic-Tacs, so the space I left was very generous.. Every time I went to that big world-dominating discount store, I looked at the cheap rear-view camera and every time I would leave it on the shelf, waiting for it to come down from $100 to the $20 it's probably worth. But it is one of the items that has never in my experience been "Rolled Back". So eventually I stopped watching it but never stopped thinking about how nice it would be to have one. Our Jeep Commander Overland has one that came from the factory and it's very useful for spotting the curb before the rear juts past, for lining up when parking, and so on. I drive a Chrysler Crossfire. I love the car and on the road, the rear view (with properly angled mirrors) is just fine. But backing up is another thing altogether. Side rear view is very limited and large things can be directly behind and invisible through the rear window. There have actually been times I've gotten out and checked before daring to back up. And I have had quite a few close calls with other drivers going way too fast in parking lots and sneaking up on me after I had tried to check. I consider myself a good driver so this is frustrating. Some reviewers claim the night vision is not very good. But video screens have adjustments for this on the better monitors. I took a minute to adjust my Pioneer AVD-W6210 touch-screen in the night-mode and the view is like daylight, both in terms of sharpness and color quality. So in my experience, the night view is a function of the screen and settings. And remember that if your back-up lights aren't very bright, there isn't anything short of night vision that's going to help... What impressed me most about this unit was the incredibly small size. The control box is the size of a pack of Tic-Tacs. The camera is the size of a single bullion cube. The product picture on this site is actually larger than life size! Since I already had a compatible Pioneer video screen installed, the addition of this unit was mindlessly easy. I literally plugged in the 12-volt, ground and video cables, stuck the camera to the back of my car, routed the wires, and it was over. The camera worked great first try. My screen gives the option of "mirror" or "normal" views so I have the choice of how I want to see the view. The camera comes on automatically when I put the car in reverse. Pretty darned easy! It cost me very little more than the Wal*Mart unit and far exceeds it's capabilities and quality. The added bonus is that the camera is wired in rather than wireless and battery-powered. This is worth every penny! Works great! Shows a very wide angle view. Only complaint is that in direct sun light there is some glare (not a big deal). Very wide view gives me a wide view of everything. It's ok, but it doesn't look anywhere near as good as the stock camera that comes with my Nissan. But for aftermarket stuff, i hear this is as good as it gets. Quality is pretty good, however the image is zoomed out a lot. A car behind me may be only a few inches away, but on the screen, it looks like it's a couple feet away. Looks great at night Average Rating:![]() |

Rear View Camera Night Vision Waterproof For CarsReviewsI got this for $20 to use with my Pioneer AVH-P5100DVD unit, set up was easy as well as installation, during the day you get Color display which I was not expecting, at night in complete darkness you get a green colored image almost as night vision goggles. NOTE: The image from this camera is like when you look on your house door peephole, so objects are actually closer than they appear, but once you practice on a wall or another car you own its easy. I got this camera a while back, but had delayed installation due to no mounting hardware, contrary to the item description. Finally opted for trailer hitch plug housing install. Power wires are a bit small for my liking. Using it on a Boss Audio BV9995B head unit that I also bought from Amazon.com. OK picture but the night vision is lackluster at best. Haven't tested the waterproof claim yet. Will go deserting and dunes this season. Hope both electronics will last! The camera provides an impressive image regardless of price and in addition has a built in alignment scale which is digitally overlaid on the screen. I use this product with a JVC NX-7000 and the image is crystal clear. The field of view is amazing as I have mounted it inline and 4 inches from my ball on the receiver hitch and the ball is shown in full view. This has made it much easier to connect to my boat trailer and arrive aligned and at the correct distance on the first shot every time, the scale shown on the screen makes this an easy task. The camera is rated waterproof and I have not tested this as of yet but for the price the test will occur soon and an update to this post will be made, if the camera passes then I will be adding one to the back of my trailer so I can see what is behind the boat when backing in parking lots. The camera has been wired to the reverse lights and power up time is instant once the vehicle is put into reverse. There is nothing negative I can think of about this product. I was trying to think of a way to mount this on my new pickup. As I didnt want to drill a hole in the back of my new truck, and I really didnt want it hanging down from a bracket, I came up with this idea. I bought a CHEAP trailer hitch plug, the kind to fill in the hitch hole when your not towing anything. I bought the cheapest black square one I could get and trimmed off the part around the outside that was larger than the insert part. That way I could slide it in from the back of the hitch. Then I drilled a hole though the end of it to fit the camera size, mounted it flush with the end of the cap, and used silicone calk to seal it into the hitch plug. The silicone has some give to it, so it can flex a tad in cold or hot weather, and I can lock the camera in the hitch with the standard key locking ball hitch safty pin that I use to tow with. I put a clip I made from the end of a clip board and mounted it on TOP of the hitch under the truck so when I am towing and the camera would be useless in this situation anyway, I just pull the pin, and clip it up under the truck onto the platform hitch, and put a baggy over the camera with a zip tie to keep it on and sealed. When I drop the trailer, I pop this back in and my camera is active again. Just a thought if you dont want to drill holes in your truck or have someone walk off with it in a parking lot that has a screwdriver in their pocket. The camera works fine, not great but good enough to know when to stop before I hit my garage door in the dark when i back into my driveway. It is great during the daytime, and in color too!! I have to tell you, when I saw this camera for sell for $22.00, I really thought I was gonna waste my money. I love being surprised. I've got a new head unit for my truck that has a motorized 7" screen that comes with a rearview camera input, thought what the hell. The pictue is surprisingly clear and at night it's grainy, but better than antisapated. It's almost like military night vision. During the day the picture is in color (wasn't expecting that) and at night, black and white. One draw-back is that there's no mounting hardware, so be prepared to drill a hole about 1 1/8" in diameter, but if your going for your bumper, it's fine. So for anyone looking for a cheap camera that preforms, this is what you need. Average Rating:![]() |

Peak Safety View Back-Up Camera System with 7 Inch Color LCD MonitorReviewsThe first monitor stopped working after one day, contacted company and without hesitation, sent a new one. It seems to be working fine. After a lot of research and reading customer reviews I chose this one. It arrived ahead of estimated time and would of been a snap to install but I have a Cadillac CTS with a full liner in the trunk lid and a double walled lid to drill the half inch through and as per the instructions I was careful to make sure I avoided wiring but not careful enough. After repairing the damaged wiring (my fault) the rest was simple. The unit is very complete and works great! cts I've been using this camera for a couple weeks or more now. This system consist of three main parts. The LCD screen, The wireless transmitter, and the camera (with extra long cable built-in) Everything needed to set it up is included. The camera's resolution seems good as well as the resolution of the lcd screen. The LCD screen is handy since it has a mono speaker built in to be used with another video source. The screen is a little hard to see in bright sun / heavy glare but not too bad. The wire for the camera is a very good length and connects to the transmitter with a 3 pin connector (not RCA). The transmitter has a another 2 pin connector to attach to the power wire which has to be spliced into the reverse light. The LCD screen has two inputs, the first being the wireless transmission, and the second being the video + audio input via an included wire. The LCD screen automatically detects the transmitter when the transmitter begins transmitting. The LCD screen can automatically switch to the transmitter's backup camera and will automatically go into a power saver mode when no signals are detected ( GREAT features! ) The biggest problem I've seen is that this wireless transmitter actually interferes with other devices that handle wireless. The first couple of days of using it, my wireless network "coincidentally" started failing, it turns out it was the transmitter from this camera system. I suspect any 2.4GHz wireless device (including bluetooth?) will be interfered with when the transmitter is activated. The wireless transmitter was about 30 feet away and behind many walls but it still caused interference. The system is good, but imagine if everyone had wireless devices that randomly interfere with the 2.4 GHz, no wifi (and bluetooth?) would be reliable. As a side note, I was able to convert the transmitter to include a RCA input so that I could use the LCD screen (with an attached 12v battery pack that I put together and is not included) wirelessly with any video source (no wireless audio though), However, the interference becomes a bigger issue since you may want to use it frequently. Solves the problem of hooking to trailer- works like a charm. Not difficult to install on my 05 Tundra. Transmitter needs to be in trunk- I have a fiberglass cover on the bed, so this works fine, otherwise, wires would have to be cut and legenthened to install the transmitter in the cab. I installed thr backup camera on a 2001 Ford Ranger super cab for hitching a bass boat trailer on. I put the transmitter inside of the bed, behind the tail light housing in a protected area, and tie wrapped it on the bed brace. The install was staight forward with no surprises.I mounted the monitor on the center of the floor and permanatley wired the harness to the fuse panel. Am very satisfied with the performance, especially the cost. Have purchased items from Amazon previously and give them an A+ and UPS has delivered items before the scheduled arrival date. One bad factor, the monitor tries to light up on accasion. Talked to Ken at tech support. The receiver frequency is very close to security devices. Ken states that by pulling into a bank, the monitor get a picture. Would I buy again, yes, has a very good picture. Just have to turn it off when not in use. Average Rating:![]() |
